Q: Is Summer Camp a real job?
While at first glance, a summer camp position may seem more “play” than “work,” what many don’t realize is that the dynamic environment of camp will help develop a diverse set of marketable skills. Skills such as leadership, effective communication, and adaptability, all while working within a unique community of individuals from varying backgrounds and experiences.
Q: What makes a qualified applicant?
Qualified applicants will be 18+ years of age by the start of employment, and have an interest in working in youth development in an outdoor setting. Applicants must also have the ability to stay active and engaged with campers during long days in an outdoor environment of variable conditions.
Q: Do I need to have any specific experiences?
We do not require any specific previous experiences in order to apply for an entry-level summer camp position. We just ask that staff are enthusiastic, willing to learn, and enjoy working with youth of all ages. However, any previous camp, child care, outdoor education, or relevant experiences are a plus!

Pay begins at $300/week for most first-year staff positions. In addition to the weekly flat rate, we provide housing throughout the duration of the summer and all meals during camp sessions.
Q: How does time off work?
Staff meet each week on Sunday afternoon, and work through the week until Friday afternoon following camper departure and all-camp clean-up. The time between Sunday and Friday is yours to spend how you like! Additionally, shorter 1-2 hour break periods are scheduled throughout the week.
Q: Do you provide training?
Yes! We provide 1-2 weeks of paid training to begin developing the necessary skills to become an emerging youth development professional. Training topics include hard skills such as American Red Cross First Aid/CPR/AED training as well as soft skills such as Positive Behavior Management tools.
