Canoeing - Communications Focus

Canoeing, with its necessity for coordination between partners in the boat, provides an excellent experiential learning opportunity to examine characteristics of effective communication. Exercises before the students even get into the boat, followed by more on the water, will bring these characteristics of communication, conflict management, and cooperation to the forefront. Students receive special instruction in safe boating practices and wear life jackets on Lake Hazel.
