- Grades 2-6 -
Aquatics
Aquatics centers around the discovery of organisms living within Lake Hazel, a 20-acre lake at the center of our property, and in the small streams around our campus. Students will learn how to identify the biodiversity of the aquatic ecosystem by doing a macroinvertebrate survey. They will use what they learn to make inferences about the health of the ecosystem based on direct observations. Students will also investigate various factors that may be influencing the biodiversity of the aquatic ecosystem at camp. After collecting data, students make observations about the similarities and differences of the lake versus stream habitat. A full 90-minute class is needed to explore both ecosystems.
